A Jason Aldean hit makes list of Top 100 country songs of all time. Is it your favorite?
He’s got hits like “Big Green Tractor,” “She’s Country” and “Dirt Road Anthem,” but it’s a different hit that snagged Jason Aldean a spot in Billboard’s “Greatest of All Time” country songs.
Stacker loooked at Billboard lists of country hits from 1959 to present day and included legendary artists such as Merle Haggard, George Strait, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton.
In addition to old classics, the list is sprinkled with newer favorites like “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood, “Take Your Time” by Sam Hunt and “This is How We Roll” by Florida Georgia Line.
So, which hit got Jason Aldean, a Macon, Georgia native, on the list?
On the list at number 43 is Aldean’s hit called “Burnin’ It Down.”
According to Stacker, “This sultry ballad sparked controversy on the radio for its suggestive nature and electronic dance music sound.”
However, controversy aside, “Burnin’ It Down” still won the Top Country Song category at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards and with that, the song was made an instant country hit, propelling it onto the “Greatest of All Time” list.
Another list by Parade ranks the “101 Best Country Songs of All Time” and Aldean is listed twice for a couple of mega hits.
At number 51, “Don’t You Wanna Stay” featuring Kelly Clarkson is ranked because it is one of the 2010’s “most critically acclaimed country duets.”
And once again, “Burnin’ It Down” is at number 92. According to Parade, “Burnin’ It Down” was certified Platinum only nine weeks after being released, making it 2014’s fastest single to accomplish this.
