Mathers pleaded no contest to a reduced misdemeanor count of impaired driving in connection to the crash, which took place on October 7, 2015, in Macomb Township, reported The Detroit Free Press.

Months later, Mathers, who goes by the last name ‘Scott,’ publicly admitted that her single-car wreck on an empty road near her Michigan home was a failed suicide attempt fueled by alcohol and pills.

‘It was intentional,’ Kim told Detroit’s Channel 995 radio show Mojo in the Morning back in May.

‘I never expected to make it out alive,’ she said, adding that she had ‘been clean for 10 years.’

Witnesses saw Kim drive her black Cadillac Escalade into a ditch, where it smashed into a pole and flipped upside down with her trapped inside.

‘I sat at the end of a road where I knew that no one else but myself would get hurt,’ Mathers recounted during the interview.

‘Yes, I drank, yes I took pills and I hit the gas and aimed for a pole.’

According to a report, Mathers told first responders who arrived on the scene of the crash that she had downed a fifth of Malibu rum before getting behind the wheel of her Escalade.

Just months later, in January 2016, Kim’s twin sister Dawn Scott was found dead in the Motor City Trailer Park after a heroin overdose. She was said to have been estranged from Kim at the time of her death.

Mathers appeared in 41A District Court on Tuesday and apologized for her actions, which she described as ‘selfish and destructive,’ according to The News Herald.

‘I didnā€™t take into consideration the safety of others and the feelings of my family and I’m truly sorry.’

Her attorney, Michael Smith, told the judge the accident has had a ‘profound effect’ on his client, who has been receiving counseling and has been sober since the crash.

‘Her life has been a fishbowl,’ Smith said. ‘Itā€™s been magnified with anything she does because of who she was married to. Itā€™s unfair, but she understands it, and that goes with the territory,’ reportedĀ C&G News.

Judge Shepherd noted during the hearing that Mathers received no special treatment in his courtroom and said, ‘I don’t care about celebrity.’

Kim Mathers and Eminem – real name Marshall Mathers III – have a daughter together, Hailie, 20. She also has daughter Whitney, 14, from another relationship, along with her late sister’s 23-year-old daughter Alaina, who Kim and Eminem adopted.

Kim and Eminem met in 1989, when she was 13 and running away from home and he was 15 and living with his mother in a trailer park.
