Usher also added a bit of lighthearted humour into the heartbreaking speech while reflecting on his late friend’s support. According to TMZ, he said: “[Aaron] follows me everywhere I go, and I was like, ‘Man, you caught that?! … you cold bro! You the worst’,” he says with a touch of humor.

Aaron touched the lives of many before his passing which was announced on Oct. 30. His friends included high-level music industry stars like Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber. Alongside Ariana and Justin, Usher left a tribute on Instagram ahead of the recent funeral. He said: “I cry, tears of joy, looking back at all of the memories we had together, I realise that you were the joy in every room you were in. We should not take life for granted or the people we love most as though they’re gonna be there forever.

“Aaron was one of my heroes. He motivated me to do more, musically. Them drum rolls and that pocket was like none other. He had a heart that was pure…he wished people well and supported others. He was happy for others. He wanted greatness for people. He loved his family. He loved his friends.”

“I can’t wrap my head around this. We were all so incredibly lucky to know Aaron. The absolute brightest light of a human being. Always the kindest, always smiling, I am so honoured and thankful our paths crossed and to have spent so much very special time together,” Ariana wrote in tribute at the time.
