Cardi B brings the 2024 Met Gala red carpet to a standstill as she requires at least NINE helpers to fan out her dress’ enormous black skirt
Cardi B had the red carpet all to herself temporarily when she made a grand entrance at the 2024 Met Gala on Monday.
The 31-year-old rapper was decked out in a gorgeous black gown, but it was the monumental tulle skirt that stole the show.
Cardi was surrounded by several feet of the thick skirt on all sides, and it appeared to take as many as nine men to fan out the fabric around her.
The unfurled skirt was so large that it looked as if no other stars could pass until she made her way to the top of the steps.
Her platoon of helpers had to stick with her to hold the skirt aloft as she gingerly ascended the stairs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Cardi appeared to have waited toward the end of the procession of famous faces, which allowed her to take up plenty of space without inconveniencing too many others.
The hitmaker’s gown featured a rippling black bodice that covered her curvaceous figure.
It featured a V-shaped plunging neckline to highlight her cleavage, and she drew attention to the spot thanks to a sizable tear drop–shaped emerald that was framed by diamonds.
The necklace included an opulent diamond-encrusted necklace, and Cardi matched her statement piece with dangling emerald earrings and more diamonds.
The gorgeous stones complemented Cardi’s long green claws, and she completed her jewelry array with a thick bracelet covered in gleaming diamonds and more emeralds.
Cardi’s dress left her toned arms uncovered, but it featured fin-like ripples of fabric rising up dramatically from her shoulders.
She went maximalist with the black fabric and even covered her hair with a towering turban.
After she got the men assisting her to fan out her skirt, they departed so that she could take some photos, before they returned to help hold the dress up as she ascended the stairs, though they had to pause and hide again as she posed for more pictures.
At last year’s Met Gala, Cardi broke out four different ensembles, so it wouldn’t be surprising if she opted to ditch the unwieldy skirt once she finally made it to the top of the stairs.

The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition falls on the first Monday in May every year and is held at New York City‘s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This year, the exhibit is titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, while the dress code is The Garden of Time.
Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth are this year’s co-chairs. Also on the committee is Vogue’s Anna Wintour.
The honorary chairs for the evening are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.
‘This year’s co-chairs reflect a variety of career achievements, and all have distinct style histories with the Met Gala,’ Vogue shared.
The showcase will feature approximately 250 items drawn from The Costume Institute’s permanent collection, with many of the pieces too fragile to ever be worn again, or even placed upright on a mannequin.
The pieces will be displayed using elements such as AI, GCI and more while playing up the themes of land, sea and sky.
‘It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion,’ said Andrew Bolton, the Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, of the upcoming exhibition.

‘One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion,’ he added.
Guests expected to attend include the Kardashians, Blake Lively, Hailey Bieber, Sarah Jessica Parker and Timothée Chalamet.
Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony and Ashley Graham are hosting, while YouTuber Emma Chamberlain is expected to interview stars on the red carpet.
