New Supes, New Madness: The Boys Showrunner Teases Insanity in the Seven.
Eric Kripke, the creator of The Boys, reveals the new Seven members that will appear in Season 4 of the hit satirical sitcom.
The Boys Season 4 promises more mayhem, with the Seven at the center of the antics. Showrunner Eric Kripke discusses what viewers may expect from some of the Seven’s newest members this season.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Kripke reveals new details about two Seven members audiences will get familiar with throughout Season 4, Sister Sage and Firecracker. Sister Sage, portrayed by Susan Heyward, may be unhinged like the rest of the Seven. However, Kripke hailed her intelligence as being her most dangerous trait. “It’s such a funny power. A lot of superhero worlds have that character. Whereas most of them are usually really reedy white dudes, we wanted a Black woman who was raised in a low socioeconomic area, so no one f—ing listens to her. It’s both commentary and satirical that you have literally the smartest person in the world that could cure all of society’s ills, but she just can’t get anyone to listen to her. So then she becomes a bitter misanthrope,” he said.
The Boys Season 4 will also welcome Firecracker (Valorie Curry), an alt-right extremist with similar intellectual traits as Sister Sage. Firecracker loves conspiracy theories and is an uncompromising character. “It turns out, there’s always crazier,” Kripke said. “Firecracker represents both members of the conspiracy-minded movements and the super extreme right-wing news media. That character has some surprising backstory that connects her to some of the characters in our world that it was just interesting to bring in one of those pistol-packing ‘I shot my puppies’ type of characters.”
New Faces Are Featured in The Boys Season 4
Heyward and Curry’s characters were confirmed to join Season 4 in 2022 ahead of filming. There technically is a third new Supe joining the Seven as Nathan Mitchell will play a new Noir character after his dialogue-less Black Noir character was 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed by Homelander (Antony Starr) during the Season 3 finale. The Seven will be a major talking point in Season 4, with Homelander facing murder charges and the devious leader throwing his support behind the condescending Victoria Neuman during her presidential run.
The Boys Season 4 also sees Jack Quaid, Karl Urban, Jensen Ackles and Erin Moriarty return to the Emmy-nominated Amazon Prime Video series. Season 4 will also see the debut of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s newly-introduced character and promises more gore and inappropriate moments than usual.
Prime Video recently renewed The Boys for a fifth season, completing the original arc Kripke intended for the series. However, Kripke has hinted at the show going behind the five-season mark if the right stories and demand are there.
