Nobody could quite believe that Fury looked to be heading to a first career defeat.
Unfortunately for the Brit it was ultimately the end of his long-standing undefeated record, leaving him with a 35-1-1 record now.
The Morecambe fighter had looked like he was cruising to a points victory before Usyk left him looking lost in the ninth round blowout.
And some have even suggested that The Cat could have ended the fight there and then with a KO, had the referee not got involved.
Former WBC cruiserweight titleholder Tony Bellew has suggested that the referee should have allowed Usyk to continue landing hits on Fury until he had hit the deck.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Bellew said: “I thought Oleksandr Usyk was a worthy winner.
“I thought in that ninth round, Tyson Fury does amazingly to stabilise himself.
“But it was a bizarre incident in that it actually shouldn’t have been a count.
“Tyson Fury is still standing and Oleksandr Usyk should still be allowed to throw punches.”
Fury was rocked onto the ropes after the combinations from The Cat.
Usyk was ultimately crowned as the undisputed heavyweight world champion.
