Oprah Winfrey stayed true to her violet trend on Sunday at the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles. The actress, producer and author opted for a custom beaded long-sleeve gown by Louis Vuitton, which featured an off-the-shoulder neckline. Winfrey also added matching Manolo Blahnik pumps.

Chopard provided Winfrey with drop earrings and cocktail rings adorned with diamonds, pink sapphire and amethyst stones. A pair of round frames completed her vibrant ensemble.

Stylist Annabelle Harron dressed Winfrey for the occasion. Herron is also known for working with stars like Patricia Arquette, Elizabeth Debicki and Hilary Swank.

Hairdresser Nicole Mangrum styled Winfrey’s brunette tresses in waves, while makeup artist Derrick Rutledge gave her a pop of purple eye shadow.

Winfrey served as an executive producer on “The Color Purple,” which is nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy (for Fantasia Barrino) and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture (for Danielle Brooks).

“The Color Purple” reboot has already spawned a craze for violet shades thanks to Winfrey. “OK, y’all have seen the trailer, and I’m giving you six months to get your outfit together for opening day,” Winfrey said in an Instagram video last year. “All things purple.”

Several designers including Prabal Gurung, Altuzarra and LaQuan Smith helped drive the purple trend in 2023, sending lilac, lavender and mauve hues down the runway. The trend has also taken off on the red carpet, with several stars following Winfrey’s directive at the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles.
