Epic Showdown! Jensen Ackles Settles the Score: Supernatural’s Demon Dean vs. The Boys’ Soldier Boy!
Jensen Ackles’ most iconic role to date is undoubtedly Dean Winchester from Supernatural. However, after the show’s finale, he joined The Boys and played Soldier Boy. The actor has now clarified which is the strongest.
Supernatural ran for an impressive 15 seasons and 327 episodes on The WB and The CW between 2005 and 2020. Over the seasons, the two main characters, Dean and Sam Winchester (played by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki), have fought every evil there is, from demons, mythical creatures, angels, the Darkness, and even God, including monster-of-the-week storylines and every season’s “Big Bad.” With so many episodes, the characters themselves went through many changes or challenges, with the actors playing different versions of their regular characters.
For example, Padalecki’s Sam had different variations over the years, including Soulless Sam, Demon Blood Sam, and Lucifer Sam. Ackles’ Dean turned into other versions like Demon Dean, Mark of Cain Dean, and Michael Dean. During Purgatory 8 or PurCon, a Supernatural convention held in Dusseldorf, Germany, Ackles addressed which is more powerful: his ruthless Demon Dean, or his The Boys superhero character, Soldier Boy.
.
Ackles replied that Demon Dean was more powerful, explaining that The Boys‘ Soldier Boy had a “kid’s soul” somewhere in him, while Demon Dean was just empty. That made him more dangerous because he didn’t care (via @raths_kitten on X). Demon Dean was part of Supernatural Season 10 after bearing the Mark of Cain in Season 9. Demon Dean didn’t care about anything, including the beloved Impala he affectionately called Baby or Sam, which confirms he was ready to fight just about everything.
Is Soldier Boy in The Boys Season 4?
Jensen Ackles joined The Boys in the show’s third season, which premiered in 2022. The actor played Soldier Boy (Ben), and also appeared in one episode of the show’s spinoff, Gen V. When it comes to his return in The Boys‘ highly-anticipated Season 4, the actor isn’t officially confirmed to return.
However, earlier this year, Ackles seemingly teased a return in Season 4. The actor was seen wearing a black The Boys Season 4 cap. While that’s not exactly a confirmation, fans would like to believe it is. The Boys come from Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who has recently revealed he would love a mini-Supernatural reunion by having Jared Padalecki on the Prime Video show. The satirical superhero show will also welcome Supernatural‘s John Winchester actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan playing a mystery character in the upcoming season.
The Boys Season 4 premieres on June 13 on Prime Video.
