She’s been the Bayou Barbie and the Chi-Town Barbie, and it appears that Angel Reese is ready to go by a new nickname.

On Thursday, the Chicago Sky rookie tweeted a series of images as she prepares for her game against Cameron Brink and the Los Angeles Sparks.

Reese captioned her tweet with “league BARBIE,” adding a new nickname to her repertoire.

Reese is now five games into her WNBA career, and she’s been impressive on the court.

She is averaging 12 points and 8.6 points per game, and she’s come up with some big plays on both sides of the ball in Chicago’s two wins this season.

She’ll be matched up against another one of the top rookies in this year’s draft class on Thursday, Cameron Brink.

Brink has also been stellar in the early part of her own WNBA journey, as the Stanford product leads the league in blocks per game with over three per contest.

Reese, Brink and Caitlin Clark are at the center of the most highly-anticipated rookie class the WNBA may have ever seen.

The players already had large followings after their college careers, and the WNBA is hoping they can increase the league’s popularity and footprint.

So far, those predictions appear to be accurate.

Clark’s team, the Indiana Fever, appear to be a guaranteed sellout wherever they play.

Brink’s highlight plays and pregame outfits constantly go viral on social media, and Reese has been one of the more entertaining players to watch and follow early in the season.

The Rookie of the Year race in the WNBA will be hotly contested this year between the three top players, but Brink and Reese could face competition for the award from their own teammates.

Brink is joined by fellow 2024 first round pick Rickea Jackson, while the Sky are awaiting the regular-season pro debut of Kamilla Cardoso.

We’ll see which rookie can come away with the win on Thursday as Reese’s Sky take on Brink’s Sparks in Chicago.
