Bombshell: Anthony Joshua Set for Blockbuster Wembley Fight – Details Inside!
ANTHONY JOSHUA has announced that he is getting closer to his next bout as he prepares to return to Wembley Stadium.
AJ is set to return to the 90,000-seat stadium in September after three fights in Saudi Arabia.
Anthony Joshua revealed that he is closing close on his next fight.
Instead, Saudi boxing leader Turki Alalshikh is making his first impact in the British market by advertising Joshua’s homecoming fight.
An announcement appears to be on the way, as Joshua wrote: “Nearly done my negotiations for my next fight! “I am feeling motivated.”
Joshua has twice sold out Wembley Stadium for his world title victories over Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin.
In addition, he defeated Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, which seats 75,000.
His most recent bouts in the UK have been back at the O2, with wins over Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius.
They followed on from double defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, 37, who has since beaten Tyson Fury, 35, to become undisputed champion.
And with the pair due to rematch back in Riyadh on December 21, AJ was forced to look elsewhere for an opponent.
Deontay Wilder was in the mix but twice fluffed his lines following defeats to Parker, 32, and Zhilei Zhang, 41.
The American former WBC champ, 38, now faces retirement.
It has instead opened up the opportunity for Daniel Dubois, 26, to face Joshua, 34, in an all-British blockbuster at Wembley.
Dubois is coming off the biggest win of his career against Filip Hrgovic, 32, in Saudi.
It crowned him IBF interim champion and put him in line to challenge Usyk for the championship.
The Ukrainian faced losing his belt because his rematch with Fury prevented him from fighting his top-ranked IBF challenger.
However, despite the threat of Joshua, Usyk has retained his belts, and Dubois will compete for the vacant strap in London.
A press conference in the capital is scheduled for June 26, where AJ’s next fight and title hopes will be confirmed.
In March, he knocked out former UFC star Francis Ngannou, 37, in the second round.
Anthony Joshua KO’d Francis Ngannou in two rounds.
