Stan Edgar returns in The Boys season 4, episode 5, and, while nearly returning to prison at the end of the episode, Victoria Neuman saves him from his fate.

Giancarlo Esposito’s character is a key figure in The Boys’ early seasons, but he fades from view after losing his position as CEO of Vought. It’s a shame, because Stan Edgar is one of the few characters in The Boys that does not appear to fear Supes, particularly Homelander. His confinement eliminates his danger to The Seven, but Season 4 finally frees him.

Butcher and MM enable Stan Edgar’s return in the hopes that he can help track down the Supe virus that Neuman stole. When they learn the virus has vanished, they refuse to pardon Stan and place him in a vehicle to return to prison. Neuman, on the other hand, utilizes her abilities to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 the driver and assist the former CEO of Vought in escaping. Viewers may ask why she did this in The Boys season 4, episode 5, especially given how tight their relationship is right now.

Neuman’s Still Views Despite betraying him, Stan Edgar remains her adoptive father.

She is also grieving at Sameer’s death.

Neuman’s choice to liberate Stan Edgar in The Boys season 4, episode 5 is unsurprising given that he is her adoptive father — even if the two aren’t on good terms following her treachery in season 3. Neuman’s animosity toward the former Vought CEO is likely to have subsided now that time has gone. She may even feel guilty for her role in his expulsion from the firm and subsequent jail. Their relationship has a long history, therefore Neuman is likely to regard Stan as a father figure even after they have been separated. It takes more than a few betrayals to break such a bond.

“Neuman’s decision to free Stan Edgar in The Boys season 4, episode 5 isn’t that surprising, as he is her adoptive father.”

Neuman is also reeling from the perceived loss of Sameer at the end of The Boys season 4, episode 5. This could also impact her choice to free Stan. Her adoptive father comforts her while she’s panicking that Sameer is missing. And once she processes the loss, it’s possible she wants to rectify things with her loved ones that remain. Neuman is left vulnerable after losing Sameer, and this could push her to feel more kindly towards Stan. Of course, there’s also a more methodical reason she could be keeping Esposito’s character around.

Neuman believes Edgar can help her bring down the Homelander.

She can no longer use the supervirus to do it.

The Boys season 4, episode 5 proves Neuman has a heart, but she’s still cold and strategic when it comes to her quest for power. Her goals have become intertwined with Homelander’s in The Boys season 4, even though she detests him. Neuman needs a way to get rid of The Seven’s leader if she hopes to be free of his influence, and that could contribute to her episode 5 decision. Stan is one of the few people who isn’t afraid to push back against Homelander, and he may have secrets about Vought and the Supe that can bring him down.

“Neuman needs a way to get rid of The Seven’s leader if she hopes to be free of his influence, and that could contribute to her episode 5 decision.”

Neuman clearly hoped to use to Supe virus to take out Homelander, just like Butcher and The Boys. Unfortunately, “Beware the Jabberwock, My Son” pumps the brakes on that idea — at least for her. Butcher is still hoping to recreate it by holding Sameer captive, but Neuman isn’t privy to this plan. Needless to say, she’ll be looking for another way to remove Homelander from power. Her adoptive father could hold the key to doing so.

Neuman’s Rescue Attempt Teases More Stan Edgar In The Boys Season 5

Giancarlo Esposito’s Character Will Likely Be Back

Neuman’s decision to liberate Stan Edgar may be controversial, but it means viewers will see more of him before The Boys ends. He may return in season 4 of The Boys, and if he survives the final episodes, he will most likely return in season 5. The next episode will be the final installment of the Amazon series, so Esposito’s character should be engaged in some way. Stan Edgar is a powerful man, and the show hasn’t fully utilized his abilities.

Stan, who previously worked at Vought and had a strained relationship with Homelander, should play an important role in the conclusion of The Boys. Hopefully, season 5 will fulfill Stan’s promise while also highlighting Esposito’s abilities. It would be exciting to see the actor take on a more important role in The Boys again, especially given his outstanding portrayal of villains.
