The singer, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, was shown with his two bandmates performing to the Spice Girls.

The rocker and his band, which started in the 1980s, scored their first number-one single, Give It Away, in 1999.

Flea shared the vintage photo on Instagram, writing: ‘When we did a Spice Girls performance for my daughter Clara’s tenth birthday.

‘John was athletic, Anthony was aristocratic, I was 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢, and the wonderful Chris Warren was Scary Spice, but he was edited out of this shot; believe me, he looked stunning. We took our maneuvers seriously and gave the youngsters our best performance!

The throwback snap comes as it was revealed earlier this year that an Anthony Kiedis biopic is in the works at Universal Pictures.

In his popular book, Kiedis described his unique connection with his father, who was addicted to narcotics and shared them with his son.

The book also discusses the death of Hillel Slovak, the founding guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who died of a heroin overdose at 26.

However, Kiedis has previously claimed that he had misgivings about writing the memoir, which once caused a schism with his bandmate Flea when he disclosed in the book that he had slept with his friend’s sister.

In 2016, Kiedis told The Sun that he regretted the book for a while since it caused considerable anguish. But then I noticed the long-term beneficial reverberation. People were reading it in hospitals, jails, and schools, and it had a beneficial impact.

‘I realized that the whole point of writing that book wasn’t for me, but to show that somebody can go all the way down and come all the way back and have a productive, successful happy interesting life.

‘And so whatever shame, pain or difficulty or discomfort I went through, then it was worth it because I get so many people coming up to me saying their kids had read it and got their act together because of it.’

He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and raised in Los Angeles from the age of 12.

He devoted a significant portion of his musical career penning lyrics about his city experiences.

In 1982, Kiedis co-founded Red Hot Chili Peppers alongside guitarist Slovak, bassist Flea (Michael Balzary), and drummer Jack Irons.
