Proof‘s son NASAAN has shared a story about the time 50 Cent came to his father’s funeral and left him completely starstruck.

The son of the late D12 rapper stopped by Nyla Symone’s We Need To Talk podcast and shared a memory from his dad’s memorial service.

NASAAN, who is also a rapper, was asked about a time he “blanked” when he was younger and immediately recalled meeting Fif.

He explained: “He came to my dad’s funeral. I think I was too young to understand what a funeral was. But 50 Cent was like 50 Cent.

“The entire funeral I’m just staring at him. He’s sitting with Dr. Dre and Eminem. I’m like, ‘Bro, that’s 50 Cent.’ I wanted to be that guy. That was a core memory of mine.”

Despite Eminem’s close relationship with Proof, NASAAN recently called out the Detroit rap legend when he found out they have clashing release dates.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the young rapper playfully warned his late father’s friend: “@Eminem dropping the same day as me? i wouldn’t do that if i was you, UNLESSSS you wanna get out sold OG.”

He then urged fans to pre-save his upcoming project Error 404 which will drop on May 31, the same date Eminem has teased a new release, which is likely to be the first single from his upcoming album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).

NASAAN’s debut project, Error 404 is set to feature contributions from fellow Eminem associate Royce Da 5’9″, as well as Detroit natives Icewear Vezzo and BabyTron.

NASAAN recently released the first single from the project, “Goated” featuring Royce.

In the song’s accompanying video, he pays tribute to his late father by recreating a famous freestyle featuring Proof and Eminem from 1999 during an interview with MTV.

The D12 heir previously spoke about his relationship with Eminem, crediting the rap icon with supporting his music ambitions.

“So crazy cuz I feel old af (22) and get mad I’m not a megastar but then I’ll talk to Em and he’ll be like, ‘Man, I wish I was where you were when I was your age or that advance[d] musically. Shit makes me feel a lottttttttt better,” he tweeted back in 2021.
