Why Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds skipped the Met Gala for the SECOND year in a row
Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds made the surprising decision to skip their second Met Gala in a row.
While she is known as the ‘Queen of the Met Gala’ for her history of head-turning looks at the prestigious fashion bash, the Gossip Girl star, 36, opted to spend the evening with just her man and their four children.
A source revealed to Elle that ‘the couple chose to spend their night at home, rather than on the red carpet.’

Lively has not attended the event since serving as co-chair in 2022, but sparked hope she would make her return after making an appearance at a Tiffany & Co. event in New York last week.
Her absence was felt greatly by fans, who flocked to her Instagram to express their sadness that she was a no-show.
‘We missed you at the Met Gala,’ one wrote, alongside a sobbing emoji.
Another joked: ‘No Blake? No MET!’
‘BLAKE WHY WERE U NOT AT THE MET GALA???????????????’ a third furiously asked.
Others admitted that they waited the entire night for her to come or post from the event.
Last year, on the day of the Met Gala, the mother-of-four, shared a photo of herself pumping breastmilk in a bathroom to confirm that she wasn’t at the fundraising gala.
‘First Monday in May,’ she captioned the cheeky shot of herself wearing a lavender sweater over the breast pumps.

Meanwhile, Reynolds has been busy shooting his new action adventure film Mayday in Montreal and supporting his Welsh soccer club Wrexham.

In February 2023, the duo welcomed their fourth child together.
At the time, a source told US Weekly: ‘Blake and Ryan knew this would be quite a transition growing their family to six now, but they’re all adjusting wonderfully. It’s a very happy time for all of them.’
Later that year, Reynolds told Extra that he was absolutely ‘thrilled’ and ‘couldn’t be happier.’
Additionally, he told ET Canada that ‘three to four’ was less of a jump than going from two to three children.
‘ I cannot speak for my wife, but it’s just from what I’ve observed. But, we love it. You know, we would be idiots to do this again if we didn’t love it,’ he gushed.
