It’s never easy to figure out what’s performance art and what is a real threat when it comes to some rap music, but Ciara thinks Future isn’t just trying to sell records when it comes to his threats against Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Ciara, the famous singer, was briefly engaged with Future and had a child with him. That relationship didn’t work out, but now Wilson and Ciara are happily engaged. Future is not so happy.

Ciara filed a defamation lawsuit against Future, and TMZ reports that she is concerned about some of the threats made against Wilson. Future posted two football emojis with three gun emojis pointed at them (oh 2016, you’re the best), which Ciara viewed as a threat according to TMZ, which cited legal documents.

Future denied posting the emojis.

“Nah, I didn’t do that,” he said about posting the emojis in an interview with The Breakfast Club. “They thought I did that. [Seeing him with my kid,] it will make you feel a way but not to the point where I’m putting emojis on a Facebook. It was a fake Facebook page. They put it on media. She even though it was real! She got lawyers start calling about that. It got serious for something I wouldn’t even do.”

According to TMZ, Ciara also mentioned the hook to Future’s song “Juice,” that seemed to be referencing Wilson:

“Tryna (expletive) my 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 mama, dog what’s up with you? You gon’ make me get that heat, I’m pulling up on you.”

TMZ said that Ciara claimed in the suit that Future’s threats are “frightening” and “socially irresponsible … where there has been a recent rash of gun violence.”

Whether any of the threats are real or just part of Future’s music persona is up for interpretation but one thing is for sure: Future probably will not be rooting for the Seahawks this season.
