‘He could wake up in an ambulance’ – Daniel Dubois sent stark warning over Anthony Joshua fight.

Daniel Dubois could ‘wake up in an ambulance’ if he absorbs Anthony Joshua’s power, Tony Bellew has warned.

The British pair will meet in a heavyweight showdown on September 21 at Wembley Stadium, with Dubois making a maiden defence of his IBF title against the two-time former unified world champion.

Joshua is currently the favourite to snatch the belt from his clutches, particularly given his recent scintillating form under new coach Ben Davison.

And former world champion Bellew agrees with the bookies’ notion, tipping AJ to get the job the done inside three rounds.

He told Coin Poker: “I think Anthony Joshua knocks Daniel Dubois out inside three rounds. Everything that Daniel Dubois does well, Anthony Joshua does better.

“Daniel Dubois is a strong puncher, he’s heavy handed but Anthony Joshua is stronger and faster. He got hit with 45 right hands in four rounds against Filip Hrgovic.

“He’ll get hit with three against Anthony Joshua and he’ll wake up in an ambulance. Anthony Joshua has dynamite in his gloves.

“Don’t get me wrong, Daniel Dubois is a puncher too, so he does have a puncher’s chance, but I rate it at 70-30, 80-20 in Joshua’s favour.”

Both Joshua and Dubois are considered to of the most powerful hitters in the heavyweight division, particularly on domestic shores.

But AJ is on fire recently and has stopped his last three opponents in the shape of Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.

Dubois was involved in a brutal war last time out with Hrgovic, absorbing some huge shots en route to a powerful stoppage victory.

He has already taken some damaging blows in his career, including in defeats to Oleksandr Usyk and Joe Joyce.

But his trainer Don Charles has insisted they are working on his defence going into the contest, to limit Joshua’s chances of victory.

He said on talkSPORT Breakfast: “We have a lot of work to do.

“The defence, everyone has latched on to that and him getting with right hands. Yes we can see that and we are trying to improve.

“They say ‘he will get knocked out by AJ’ because he is leaking right hands. But in boxing when you throw a right hand, you are also in danger of being hit with one yourself.

“If they are foolish enough to bank on that, they have something else coming.

“We aren’t ignorant we are going to work on it. He took far too many against Hrgovic.

“That wasn’t the plan, but we will rectify that in the Joshua fight and we are not going to this time.

“When we go and beat up Anthony Joshua, what are they going to say next?

“This gives us fuel and especially Daniel to prove the critics wrong and deliver the win.”

A win for Dubois or Joshua could see them thrown into a huge undisputed title clash with the winner of Usyk’s rematch against Tyson Fury which takes place on December 21.
